NJ Runners Boys XC All State Selections

Yeah, this one must have been very sweet.

By the way, CBA Meet of Champions wins generally come at least in pairs.  Only once in those prior 15 victories has there been a win in isolation, that coming in 1993.  While they do lose Mike Mazzacaro and Dan Mykityshyn, their other 5 runners from the Meet of Champions are all underclassmen and there are a load of athletes who have run sub-5:00 and/or sub-10:00.  They'll be back knocking on the door again next year.

Top Freshman Boy:  Luke Dermody (Hightstown)

Luke had a relatively short season but ran well in every race.  He opened with a 16:16 effort at the Wild Safari race at Great Adventure, the 11thh fastest time of the day good for 6th place in the B race.  At Shore Coaches he ran 17:03, finishing 12th in the C race.  He was 8th in the Mercer County meet where it's awfully tough to be in the top 20 if your school name doesn't begin with "West".  At the Thompson Park Sectional he led his team to qualifying for the state meet with a 4th place/16:28 finish and completed his season with an 18th/16:48 in the Group 3 meet.
